Tonight when I picked up Leo to put him in his crib for the night, he became agitated and lunged at the pile of books on the little table next to our nursing chair. Then it hit me: I had forgotten to read him Goodnight Moon. The boy loves that book, and it has become our evening ritual to read it right before he goes to bed.
"Goodnight Moon?" I said.
He broke into a big grin. "Guh!" he said.
We read the book, and he went to bed without a complaint.
